Who we are

EE Local Services is an independent local-services directory run by a small remote team. We are not a contractor and never perform work — we connect homeowners with licensed local pros and publish the pricing and licensing information we wish existed when we hired our own.

How we build our data

• Pricing: typical ranges are compiled from public sources (BLS occupational and cost data, published trade rate surveys) and are labeled as estimates — always get a written quote for your job.
• City adjustments: national ranges are scaled per metro with public regional price-parity data (BEA RPP 2024), so a water heater in Austin shows Austin money, not a national average. Same trade, different metro, honest ~±10% difference.
• Licensing: every state page names the regulator and links to the official license lookup so you can verify any contractor yourself, in minutes, for free.
• Guides: troubleshooting steps are reviewed against manufacturer service guidance and trade best practice; where a check is unsafe for homeowners (refrigerant, gas, panel work), we say so instead of farming clicks.
• Pros: we verify license status with the state board before routing homeowner requests, and remove pros who stop responding or collect complaints.

What we cover, and when we update

Currently 7 metros across TX, OH, NC, IN and TN, four trades: plumbing, HVAC, roofing and electrical. Price pages are re-checked when the underlying public data is revised (BLS/BEA annual cycles) or when a trade materially changes — for example the 2025 refrigerant transition (R-410A → R-454B) that pushed recharge and replacement costs up. Licensing pages are updated when state boards change rules; the board's own site always wins if we drift.

How we make money

During our pilot, pros receive verified homeowner requests at no cost. Pros may later pay for leads or featured placement; rankings and listings are never sold. Homeowners always pay nothing.
